Birds Of Tokyo – Universes

For Fans Of: Karnivool, The Butterfly Effect.

In 5 years Birds Of Tokyo have released 2 EPs, 2 albums, played sold out tours, been nominated and won multiple awards and played on the main stage at 2009s Big Day Out. After all that success and you still haven’t heard them well then you need to pay attention. Their latest release is their second album ‘Universes’, which debuted at no.3 on the Aria album charts and no.1 on the AIR album charts.

Birds Of Tokyo are formed from a collaboration of some well known Perth acts, most noticeable is front man Ian Kenny from none other then Karnivool. ‘Broken Bones’ is the second single released from ‘Universes’. The vocals are as close to perfect as you can get. This song pulls at all of your emotions. Straight away you will notice a different sound from their debut album ‘Day One’. This album is full of soft, hard hitting, melody and emotion packed songs. This is a big sounding album. ‘Silhouettic’, ‘An Ode To Death’ and ‘Wild Eyed Boy’ are songs you will not be able to extract from your head for days on end. Birds Of Tokyo have proven they are not going to be second to Karnivool or any other band.

‘Universes’ will definitely please old and new fans. With Ian Kenny’s’ soaring vocals and a solid band behind him there is no surprise that these guys are destined for greatness. If you love rock music, music with real emotion, music that is just easy to listen to, well you need to listen to Birds Of Tokyo.
