For Fans Of: Bury Your Dead.
Confession are the band with none other than Michael Crafter on vocals. Everyone knew it would only be a matter of time till Crafter would pick up where he left off with I Killed The Prom Queen. With a lot of people wanting Confession to succeed, there are a lot wanting them to fail. Does their new album ‘Cancer’ have what it takes?
The first minute of the first track, ‘Send A Meat Truck’, lets you know that Confession are going to make you mess yourself with delight. Crafters’ vocals on every song are the best he has done so far. Which makes you brood over of how much bigger I Killed The Prom Queen might have become if he rejoined. But enough living in the past. Because the future for these guys looks brighter than that of a fat kid eating a Spanish Donut for the very first time. Every difference from ‘Can’t Live Can’t Breathe’ to ‘Cancer’ has made them that much better. The breakdowns are even more brutal, as can be heard on ‘Chewed Up And Spat Out (featuring Ahren Stringer). The melodic guitar parts are even more present and even more memorable. The mosh ‘n’ roll guitar riffs make it harder to ignore the urge to move your feet and head. The vocals are some of the most damaging Australia has ever seen. As well as some clean vocal chorus’s that will have you singing along for days on end (check out ‘That’s Not The Goose featuring JJ Peters). If that is not enough than how bout throwing some guitar solos on top and having Winston McCall, JJ Peters and Ahren Stringer as guest vocalists on three different tracks. ‘Cancer’ will infect all those surrounding the speakers that are spewing it out.
Confession’s new album ‘Cancer’ is a CD not to be taken lightly or cast aside. ‘Cancer’ contains some of the most fuming, deafening, haunting heavy music to be recorded by an Australian band. It’s no surprise that an album of such quality would come from another ex-I Killed The Prom Queen member. ‘Cancer’ will immediately have you counting down the days till the follow up album arrives.
