JJ Peters has proven himself to be one of the most talented Australians in music today. After creating Deez Nuts back in 2007, he has exploded all round the world. Now back with the follow up, to debut album ‘Stay True’, can his new record ‘This One’s For You’, rise up to the standard we have learnt to expect?
‘This One’s For You’ was written in less than a fortnight. Being able to write music at such a high standard so quickly, is a sign that JJ is going to be providing us with music for years to come. ‘This One’s For You’ is harder, faster and more aggressive than previous effort ‘Stay True’. But don’t worry JJ has not let anyone down and still threw in a few of the feel good, drinking hardcore songs that made people fall in love with Deez Nuts. ‘DTD’ is every Deez Nuts fan new favourite song. Possibly the catchiest and simplest chorus hardcore music has ever heard. The one and only Oliver Sykes makes an appearance on ‘If You Don’t Know Now You Know’, a guest appearance that will definitely help sell more CDs. ‘Pigs Is Pigs’ is originally a Grips N Tonic song (JJ Peters and Louie Knuxx), the new version is a standout song on this album. Just before the album comes to an end you will stumble upon ‘Party Song’. After hearing this song every time you are at a party, a club or a show you will find it hard to resist chanting ‘Party and Bullshit’. ‘This One’s For You’ is an album that has shown JJ’s natural progression and improvement, to put it simply this album is a step up from ‘Stay True’.
Deez Nuts probably have just as many haters as they do fans. For a band to create that much attention obviously means they are doing something right. Love it or hate it, Deez Nuts are not slowing down and ‘This One’s For You’ is one of the best hardcore albums Australia has heard.
