Electric Horse – Translations

For Fans Of: Sunk Loto, Lump, Sevendust.

The new supergroup for Queensland and Australia is Electric Horse. Featuring members from Sunk Loto, Lump and King Mungi. They have been keeping themselves busy by recording their debut EP, ‘Translations’, at Loose Stones Studios. The question is are they a Rock Star Supernova or Velvet Revolver?

Sunk Loto fans will breathe a sigh of relief when they hear Jason Brown’s voice backed up by his brother Dane Brown’s drumming, blasting out their stereos once again. This time round they are accompanied by Scott Jackman (Lump), Luke Attrill (Lump) and Corey Absell (King Mungi).

Something To Believe’ is the first of the six songs on the EP and is the first out of the six times the listener experiences the realization that this band is already a force to be reckoned with. There is always one standout song and ‘They Say’ is a straight up rock tune that will have the masses singing along and wonder why they ever listened to MGMT. Electric Horse play their music loud, hard, fast and to perfection. They capture the beautiful melodies from Sunk Loto with the hard-hitting rock of Lump. ‘Translations’ ends with the longest song and the most impressive song, ‘Seventh Sun’, which is a song that progressive kings Karnivool would respect.

Electric Horse has the potential and sound to achieve greater levels of success than what Sunk Loto, Lump and King Mungi ever reached.  The Gold Coast is home to some of Australia’s most talented and promising bands, such as Mourning Tide, Promises and now Electric Horse. ‘Translations’ is a CD not to be left unheard. Definitely not a Rock Star Supernova.
