One Vital Word hail from Newcastle and are having a year to remember. They have released their second EP, played their biggest show to date and have formed a very special relationship with the one and only Pete Pee. Chris Newbold explains…
How does being perceived as an underrated band feel?
Like Shit haha. In all honesty we just love our fans and the people that support us to death we feel we have a really tight loyal and just all round amazing bunch of people around us at every show both new and old.
After releasing two EP’s the time for a full length must be near?
We sure are hoping so. Our first album is something we definitely don’t want to rush into, we only just released the Ep at the start of the year so we will see what happens 
What has been the biggest show you guys have played so far?
Easily the Parkway Drive mix and mash show. That show was a dream come true for all of us and it was an even bigger night for our guitarist as it was his engagement party the same night.
What do you believe is the one thing that sets One Vital Word apart from the rest of the Australian punk/hardcore bands?
Not to sure, I guess we just really like to give off high energy on stage and really get the crowd involved as much as possible. We love playing shows no matter how big or small. The funnest shows we have played have been the close and intimate shows.
You guys have a show coming up supporting Bodyjar (who ‘called it quits’ in 2009), a dream come true?
For sure. They are legends in the punk scene and as grommets we all loved that band.
What event during One Vital Words lifespan made you feel the most accomplishment?
Every time we have someone come and tell us they love our music and that they had the greatest time ever at a show makes me feel like we have accomplished what we set out to do.
How does it feel to be part of the Pee Records family?
FUCKING AMAZING. Pete rules and I honestly feel its the best choice we have made to date, he does a lot for this band and is such a personality. We are very grateful to have him behind us. Behind every great man there is a great woman and that’s just what Pete is.
