Sunk Loto- Between Birth and Death

For Fans Off: Sevendust, Tool, Deftones.

Sunk Loto exploded onto the Australian music scene back in 2000, with ‘Big Picture Lies’. After accomplishing so much in so little time, they ended their career on a high note in 2003, with ‘Between Birth and Death’.

This being their second full length, there was a lot of pressure and a high standard created by themselves to live up to. Well ‘Between Birth and Death’ witnessed the band rise to a new level of maturity, musicianship and captured the bands sound perfectly. The first single ‘Everything Everyway’ caught fans off guard and showed the world that they were capable of writing a catchy, beautiful rock song with a metal edge. ‘Empty and Alone’ is a song that has their signature heavy and aggressive sound with Jason Brown’s clean vocals soaring during the chorus. The last single off the album, ‘Starved’, is what a progressive metal song should sound like. ‘Between Birth and Death’ is an album that bands can and will be learning from for years to come.

Sunk Loto gave Australian fans some of the best progressive metal the world has been privileged to hear. Jason and Dane are now keeping themselves busy in their new band Electric Horse, who have just released their debut EP, ‘Translations’.
